NextImg:Petrol and diesel cars are 'more stressful' than electric vehicles as drivers opt for a 'true escape'

New research indicates that electric vehicle ownership significantly reduces driver anxiety, with three-quarters of EV drivers reporting greater relaxation compared to their experiences with petrol and diesel vehicles.

The investigation uncovered that nearly two in five drivers experience tension whilst navigating UK roads.

This widespread automotive anxiety affects a substantial portion of the motoring public, highlighting concerns about the psychological impact of modern driving conditions.

The contrast between EV drivers' experiences and the broader driving population suggests that vehicle technology plays a crucial role in determining comfort levels behind the wheel.

The primary sources of automotive anxiety include aggressive following behaviour, which troubles 58 per cent of stressed motorists.

Additionally, 53 per cent cite other drivers' failure to maintain proper lane positioning as a significant irritant.

Infrastructure challenges and congestion contribute to the problem, with 44 per cent identifying roadworks and heavy traffic as stress triggers.

Motorists seeking relief from road-related tension favour specific vehicle features, according to the research.

Nearly two-thirds of respondents identified comfortable seating as their preferred stress-reduction method.

Many also reported experiencing anxiety when navigating unfamiliar routes, suggesting that technological assistance plays a vital role in driver confidence.

These preferences indicate that physical comfort combines with technological support to create a more serene driving environment.

The data reveals how modern vehicle amenities serve dual purposes, enhancing both comfort and psychological well-being during journeys.

Jules Tilstone, MD of DS Automobiles UK, commented: "We know that stress behind the wheel affects more than just the driver, it impacts confidence, decision making and enjoyment.

"That's why our aim at DS Automobiles is to craft experiences. With the N°8, we've created a true escape from the stresses and strains of British roads."

DS Automobiles has responded to these findings by developing vehicles specifically engineered to address driver anxiety.

The N°8 incorporates multiple comfort-enhancing technologies including massage functionality, heated and ventilated front seating, and neck warming systems.

The electric vehicle has an impressive battery range of 466 miles and fast-charging capabilities to provide 124 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

The impressive charging speeds can help the battery of the N°8 go from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in 28 minutes.

DS Automobiles has priced the vehicle at £50,790 for the Pallas trim, while drivers can also get their hands on the Etoile (£54,790) and Jules Verne (£64,790) models.

So far this year, DS Automobiles has sold 961 vehicles in the UK, representing an impressive 36.5 per cent rise in sales compared to the same time last year.
