Former Scotland Yard Detective Peter Bleksley has hit out at Britain's police force for "pandering to snowflakes" and the "tyrannical mob rule" after US President Donald Trump latest intervention into free speech.
US diplomats from the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) travelled to London in March to "affirm the importance of freedom of expression in the UK and across Europe", according to The Telegraph.
During their visit, the US delegation met with several UK activists who had been detained for praying silently outside abortion clinics. These included Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, Rose Docherty, Adam Smith-Connor, Livia Tossici-Bolt and Father Sean Gough, a Catholic priest.
This marks the latest effort by US officials to address free speech concerns in the UK, with the delegation engaging with both government representatives and activists during their time in London.

Discussing Trump's intervention in Britain's free speech laws, Bleksley criticised the police force for "pandering" to the "tyrannical mob rule", accusing them of "scooping up" Britons over social media posts.
Bleksley fumed: "What is really happening is that the police are pandering to people who get offended by stuff, which really should be allowed under free speech in this country.
"Our police are using the Malicious Communications Act of 1988 now to scoop up dozens of people on a daily basis for things that they may have written online."
Recalling his own experience with the "snowflakes", Bleksley revealed that trolls online attempted to have him "cancelled" over a joke he posted online.

Bleksley explained: "I posted a joke a few days ago, a very funny joke, and it offended numerous snowflakes, who then campaigned roundly to try and get me cancelled.
"They went to the length and breadth of any media organisation I've ever been on. This is tyrannical mob rule by a minority of snowflakes who are so delicate that they get offended by people who tell jokes or tell it how it is."
Delivering her verdict on the state of free speech in Britain, journalist and broadcaster Linda Duberley claimed that the Government and police have "gone too far" in policing free speech in this country.
Duberley told GB News: "I think that things have gone a little bit too far in this country. What's happened here in this country is we've chucked the baby out with the bathwater.

"What's happened now is that everyone is starting to react, we're starting to become really obsessive, about things that don't actually matter and people should be allowed to speak about."
Highlighting the case of Lucy Connolly, Duberley added: "If you think that the actual Prime Minister now is leading the charge, along with Shabana Mahmood, to actually shorten jail sentences or have no jail sentences for some criminals.
"And yet Lucy Connolly is in prison for 31 months and loses her appeal. You've got to start asking yourself what is going on here?"
