NextImg:Palestine activist throws bucket of mice into McDonald's in protest at 'pro-Israel' chain

A pro-Palestine activist has been filmed throwing a bucket of live mice into a McDonald’s restaurant in Birmingham in protest against the fast food chain's stance on Israel.

Dozens of rodents, which were painted red, green, white and black, were let loose as terrified customers dashed towards the food collection area.

The man, wearing a Palestinian flag around his head, retrieved the mice from the boot of his car.

He was also seen clutching fake number plates that read “PAIISTN” and “Free Palestine”.

The activist shouted “free f*****g Palestine” as he walked back towards his car.

He also screamed “boycott Israel” and “f**k Israel” before leaving the Star City restaurant.

The video, which circulated on social media, called for people to boycott McDonald's, Starbucks and Disney for allegedly showing support to Israel as Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to crush Hamas after the attack on October 7.

McDonald's confirmed last night that a “number of mice” were released inside the restaurant.

The fast food eatery has since been “fully sanitised” after the creatures were removed.

“We are aware of an incident in our Birmingham Star City restaurant this evening,” a McDonald’s spokesperson said.

“The restaurant has been fully sanitised and our pest control partners have been called out to conduct a full inspection.”

The incident occurred after protesters gathered outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Bristol while demonstrators took to the streets across the country.

Pro-Palestine activists called for people to boycott the company after accusing the fast food chain of “killing innocent people”.

Despite the protests, McDonald’s defended its decision to give free meals to Israeli soldiers.

McDonald’s Israel said: “Since the outbreak of the war, McDonald's Israel has donated over one hundred thousand meals to the security forces, the residents of the surrounding area and the hospitals, when five of the chain's restaurants were opened for this purpose only.

“In addition, McDonald's Israel gives a 50 per cent percent discount to all security and rescue forces that arrive independently at the branches.”

However, a rift emerged between the fast food chain’s international franchises after spokespeople in Kuwait and Pakistan issued statement confirming they did not share ownership with the Israeli franchise.

Some franchises even noted that they had made financial donations to Palestinians living in Gaza.
