



One person has been airlifted to hospital after a house was "ripped apart" in a suspected gas explosion in Middlesbrough.
It is understood that a property on Kirkland Walk near Frampton Green exploded on Tuesday.
Residents have described the blast as "absolute carnage" and as though "a plane was crashing".
Pictures from the scene have been shared online and show a semi-detached property completely destroyed.

A North East Air Ambulance spokesperson said: "Our critical care team was activated at 12.46pm to an incident in Middlesbrough.
"We had two doctors and two paramedics respond to the scene and they worked alongside the North East Ambulance to assess and treat a patient. The patient is being airlifted to hospital."
