A man at the centre of a nine hour stand-off in a town in Leeds has died this morning, police have confirmed.
Armed police were called to a cul-de-sac in Stanningley, near Leeds yesterday afternoon following reports of a man with a gun.
Neighbours were told to stay indoors while trained negotiators tried to reach a "safe conclusion".
Armed officers forced entry to the address at 10.50pm and found the man critically injured.
He was taken to hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
Officers were called to a domestic-related incident at an address in Half Mile Green but withdrew after spotting a male at the property in possession of what appeared to be a handgun.
A cordon was erected while emergency services attended, including armed officers and police negotiators.
