Nuclear test veterans have expressed deep frustration with the Labour Government's failure to respond to compensation claims, despite Prime Minister Keir Starmer's pledge a year ago to meet them at 10 Downing Street.
The veterans, who were exposed to dangerous levels of radiation during bomb tests, continue to suffer severe health consequences whilst being forced to crowdfund legal action against the Government.
Alan Owen, founder of campaign group LABRATS International, revealed to GB News that he has written three times each to both the Prime Minister and Defence Secretary John Healey without receiving any response whatsoever.
"I've written to him three times, and I've written to John Healey three times as the Defence Secretary and we haven't even had a response, nothing. Not even a 'I'm really sorry, we'll pass this to the veterans minister'. Absolutely nothing," Owen said.

He explained that despite monthly meetings with the Office for Veterans' Affairs and civil servants, where the issue remains on the agenda, no progress has been made at ministerial level.
The campaigners have had just two meetings with Veterans Minister Al Carns totalling an hour and a half, but Owen stressed they need engagement from senior ministers who have the power to act.
Brian Unthank, an RAF cook who witnessed three hydrogen bomb detonations at close range on Christmas Island, detailed the devastating health consequences of his radiation exposure. He lost his teeth by age 20 and has had more than 90 skin cancers removed.
The impact extended to his family, as he told GB News host Andrew Pierce that his wife suffered 13 late-term miscarriages, children in his family are experiencing heart defects, and his youngest granddaughter is now suffering with "crumbling teeth".

He said: “Since 1952, every single Prime Minister has made us promise after promise after promise and totally blanked everything.
"I want Keir Starmer to stand up in front of us and say, ‘sorry, boys, we the Government have made a huge mess-up, we need to get this sorted out, and I think we're going to do it quickly’."
The veterans, many now in their eighties, are being forced to crowdfund for legal action against the Government: "These guys are 80 years old, and they are crowdfunding for a case against the Government.
"They shouldn't be having to do this. They shouldn't have to have litigation against the Government. There shouldn't be a fight," Owen said.

He emphasised that both Starmer and Healey have the power to resolve the situation immediately. "Keir Starmer, John Healey, have the power to do this right now. They could do it right now," he stated.
Unthank called for the Prime Minister to acknowledge the Government's failures and take swift action.
In a statement, A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "We are deeply grateful to all those who participated in the UK nuclear testing programme and recognise their immense contribution to national security.
"Ministers have directed teams across the Ministry of Defence and the Atomic Weapons Establishment to thoroughly examine what information exists regarding medical testing of nuclear test veterans."
