NextImg:‘Not the British taxpayers’ problem!’ Tense GB News row as guest points to ‘instability in Pakistan’

A fierce exchange erupted on GB News when political commentator Adam Brooks challenged why British taxpayers should fund accommodation for Pakistani migrants.

"What war are they fleeing from in Pakistan?" Brooks demanded during the heated discussion.

Political commentator Samuel Sweek said more should be done by authorities to ensure community tensions are not enflamed.

He said there is "instability in Pakistan" and mentioned "incredibly repressive regimes and governments and militias" when asked about the surge in asylum claims.

Brooks swiftly countered: "Instability is not the British taxpayers' problem. Why should we pay for them to come here because they don't like where they live or they want more money?"

Fellow commentator Chloe Dobbs acknowledged global suffering but argued that accepting everyone facing oppression is "just not viable" for Britain.

Tensions boiled over in Epping on Sunday evening as more than 100 protesters gathered outside the Bell Hotel for the second time in four days. The demonstration followed allegations of sexual assault involving a migrant resident.

Essex Police detained six individuals, with four suspected of participating in violent disorder during Thursday's initial protest. Officers maintained a presence throughout the night after ordering crowds to disperse.

Samuel Sweek wants the Government to do more to ensure local tensions are not enflamed

Protesters waved British flags whilst chanting "Save our kids" and "Send them home". The situation intensified after dark when demonstrators hurled flares and objects at police vehicles blocking the hotel entrance.

Law enforcement removed a counter-demonstrator from the scene after protesters encircled her.

Authorities are deliberately concealing the locations of numerous migrant hotels from local residents, citing data protection and privacy requirements. Newcastle City Council stated it was legally prohibited from notifying communities about migrant accommodation, explaining: "We would not share a resident's personal information with other residents, unless we had specific legal reasons to do so."

Tower Hamlets council confirmed: "We do not announce when asylum seeker hotels are set up in the borough."

Currently, 32,345 asylum seekers reside in hotels at public expense, with an additional 66,683 housed in residential properties. The 220 hotels involved typically exclude regular guests entirely.

Parents have raised alarm about migrant hotels opening adjacent to educational institutions without prior notification. In Altrincham, Manchester, accommodation for asylum seekers was established directly beside an all-girls school.

A mother from Rotherham revealed that between six and eight migrant hotels had opened in her area, where young women already fear walking alone due to historical grooming gang activity. One facility was positioned near a school.

"They keep on putting up these hotels without telling people in the most ludicrous places," Chloe Dobbs stated on GB News. "Why do they keep doing that? They should surely be consulting parents."
