Nigel Farage has slammed MI6 for flying the Pride flag from its building for the month of June, claiming it is "not what our intelligence services are for".

Speaking on his GB News show, the presenter accused MI6 Chief Richard Moore of "boasting" about the decision.

In a post on social media, Moore confirmed: "To mark Pride Month and to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ colleagues, MI6 is proudly flying the pride flag from Vauxhall Cross alongside the Union flag for the whole month of June.

"Your sexual orientation is no bar to you working and thriving at MI6 #Pride2025."

Reacting to the decision, Farage told GB News: "One day after the Strategic Defence Review, and we've been discussing how important all that is, the head of MI6 hosts a boastful tweet.

"'To mark Pride Month and to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ colleagues, MI6 is proudly flying the pride flag from Vauxhall Cross alongside the Union flag for the whole month of June.'"

Farage fumed: "This is nonsense, this is absolutely nonsense. We just don't need this. Quite honestly, it really makes me angry. It's not what our intelligence services are for."

"I don't mind them flying the national flag, but this, I mean, have I got something wrong here? Is any of this necessary?

In a further pointed attack, Farage continued: "We don't need this nonsense, do we? I don’t care [in their sex or gender]. I'm not interested."

Highlighting the "wokery" in the decision by MI6, Farage warned that companies and authorities engaging in such practices will have the "pendulum come back" on them.

The GB News host stated: "It's part of that woke thing where people just think it's the right thing to do.

"This whole wokery has gone through, not just Government, but much of the corporate sector too. I think the pendulum will come back on all of it."

Delivering her verdict on the flag being flown outside MI6, former Conservative MP Heather Wheeler said the organisation is one of many which is "pandering" to the "woke" agenda.

Wheeler said: "I think that we're beyond whether we're interested and not interested, it's just pandering, isn't it? It's part of that woke thing where people just think it's the right thing to do.

"I think society has moved on, I genuinely do. Look after your staff, make sure you employ the right people and you don't have to do anything apart from a staff member of the month. Celebrate internally."
