Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has opened up on why he will not meet Donald Trump during his visit to Scotland, citing "diplomatic reasons".

Questioned by GB News reporter Adam Cherry on why he will not see Trump, Farage admitted a "friendly" meeting "won't work".

Recalling his last meeting with the President, Farage told the People's Channel: "When he was up in Turnberry last May, I was there for GB News actually. But I was there and I stayed there.

"And I was obviously back for the campaign in November and I was in Mar-A-Lago on the fifth and sixth."

Nigel Farage told GB News why he won't meet with US President Donald Trump during his UK visit

Admitting the pair are now in an "awkward position" in their alliance, Farage stated: "I'm in a slightly awkward position now, or he's in a slightly awkward position with me.

"I can't just bowl up on a friendly trip for diplomatic reasons, whilst he's there with the Prime Minister negotiating steel tariffs and much else, it just doesn't work."

Lifting the lid on his friendship with Donald Trump, the Reform UK leader revealed he recently went to dinner with the President's son, Donald Trump Jr.

He explained: "I had dinner with Donald Trump Jr the other week, and I'm on good terms."

Assuring he is "still on good terms" with the Trump administration, Farage declared his relationship with Trump is "always one of friendship".

Farage stated: "I'm on good terms with the administration. My relationship with Trump has always been one of friendship, but right at the moment, diplomatically, it doesn't really work."

Addressing domestic matters, Farage took aim at the Online Safety Act, warning of the "state suppression of genuine free speech".

He cautioned: "I felt that things were genuinely opening up for a proper, rational, sane debate without being shouted down until the Online Safety Act came into being this weekend.

"Which begins to look as though state suppression of genuine free speech may be upon us already."

Reflecting on the recent protests outside The Bell Hotel in Epping for housing illegal migrants, Farage said: "Over the course of the last week, migrant crime has been a very, very big debate around the country, following the episode that took place in at The Bell Hotel in Epping.

"And over the course of the next few weeks, we will delve more deeply into this.

"There is an alarming parallel between the extraordinary increase in the number of reported rapes and the wholly irresponsible immigration and asylum policies pursued by first Labour and then by Conservative Governments."
