Watch the moment Nigel Farage and Jacob Rees-Mogg team up to take on former Labour Party Chair Dianne Hayter and ex-Labour councillor Kevin Craig in an explosive row about the migrant crisis.

A point of contention came about when Mr Craig asked if Brexit was to blame for the surge in small boat crossings in recent times.

Both Nigel and Jacob were quick to hit back, saying: “It has nothing to do with it at all.”

Nigel raised the Dublin Convention, saying: “People forget the number of people who returned under it was absolutely minimal.”

Jacob said “we actually had net inflow”, a point which Nigel concurred with, saying “that didn’t work”.

The Reform UK leader put it to Mr Craig: “The public that voted Brexit are very angry about this, including millions of Labour voters.”

He responded: “Nobody disputes folks aren’t worried about immigration, illegal or legal. I think that’s fair.

“There is a debate around the number of migrants coming in from outside the EU post-Brexit.

“We have many, many more migrants coming in from outside the EU.”

The Dublin Convention refers to an EU regulation which first came into force in 1990 and the UK is no longer bound to it as a result of Brexit.

It determines which EU member state is responsible for the examination of an application for asylum, and Nigel and Jacob were unanimous in their belief it did not work for Britain.
