Drivers are being warned of long delays on a major motorway this morning following a serious road traffic collision.
National Highways has warned that the M62 in West Yorkshire is closed eastbound between J28 (Tingley) and J29 (M1/Lofthouse Interchange) and remains shut.
It follows a serious single vehicle collision, which took place in the early hours of Saturday (October 4) morning.
Following the incident, the M62 eastbound carriageway was closed to allow West Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance to work at the scene.
National Highways traffic maps suggest that the road traffic accident will be cleared by around 1pm, although it could take longer.
The police incident has also prompted National Highways to warn that normal traffic conditions will not return until around 1.15pm at the earliest.
Teams from Yorkshire Ambulance Service have since left the scene, although West Yorkshire Police remain on the carriageway to investigate the incident.
Traffic Officers from National Highways are also assisting with the investigation in the form of emergency traffic management.

National Highways warned that the closures are required to remain in place as the investigation work is underway.
It added that the road would reopen once investigations and assessments of the carriageway and surrounding infrastructure have been completed.
The transport organisation said: "The road is expected to remain closed throughout this morning's peak traffic period and into the early afternoon."
