



The M25 has closed this morning after a "horror crash" stopped all traffic in both directions.
Accident investigation work is underway after the crash is believed to have involved a car and a van. The incident has been described by police as a "serious road traffic collision."
Accident investigation work is currently taking place between J21A for the A405 North Orbital Road (St Albans) and J22 A1081 (St Albans / London Colney).
Disruption is expected throughout the morning in both directions.

Hertfordshire Police told The Metro: "The M25 is currently closed between junctions 22 ( London Colney) and 21A (North Orbital Road/St Albans).
"This is while emergency services deal with a serious road traffic collision. Motorists are asked to avoid the area."
Traffic site Inrix said: "M25 in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident investigation work between J21A A405 North Orbital Road (St Albans) and J22 A1081 (St Albans / London Colney).
"A van and a car collided Anticlockwise just before 04:00 but both sides are closed and are likely to stay shut until lunchtime at least.
Stretches of the M25 have been left completely empty this morning
