NextImg:Lidl recalls multiple batches of food after contamination discovery – 'Not suitable for consumption!'

Lidl GB has issued a product recall for its new Harvest Basket Smiley Teddy Bears following the discovery of mineral oil contamination during manufacturing.

The 750g packets affected carry best before dates in April and May 2027, with multiple production batches identified as unsuitable for consumption.

The supermarket chain confirmed that mineral oil had entered the product during the production process, rendering the teddy bear-shaped snacks unsafe to eat.

Several batch codes have been identified, all beginning with specific numerical sequences that customers should check against their purchases.

Shoppers were assured that the contamination issue affects only this particular Harvest Basket product line in Lidl's British stores.

Three specific best before dates have been identified: April 11, 2027, April 21, 2027, and May 4, 2027.

The affected lot codes begin with D0325104, D0425112, D0425113, D0825125 and D0825126, followed by additional digits.

In an official customer notice, the supermarket stated: "Due to the entry of mineral oil, the product is not suitable for consumption. If you have bought the above product, we advise you not to eat it."

The recall notice will remain active until September 2, 2025, giving customers ample time to check their cupboards and return any affected products.

Around 5,315 units of Tower Vortx 8L Dual Basket Air Fryer were sold by Lidl Ireland in 2024

It comes just one month after Lidl recalled Harvest Basket Hash Browns due to possible metal contamination.

Lidl shoppers in Ireland faced a separate safety concern earlier this month when nearly 60,000 Tower air fryers were recalled due to fire hazards.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) warned that manufacturing defects could cause the appliances to overheat, potentially resulting in fires.

Five Tower models sold between 2020 and 2024 were affected, including units distributed through various retailers such as Tesco, Argos, Dealz, and Lidl.

The recall encompassed approximately 5,315 units of the Tower Vortx 8L Dual Basket Air Fryer, all sold by Lidl Ireland in 2024.

The CCPC advised consumers to immediately stop using the affected air fryers and disconnect them from power sources, citing risks of injury or death.

To check if your Tower Air Fryer is among the faulty items, unplug it and check the appliance rating label located at the bottom of the air fryer. The model number will begin with the letter T.

Food and product recalls must always be taken seriously to ensure your safety.

Parents and carers were recently called to action after a major retailer recalled children's clothing.

Shoppers were told to "cease use immediately" and return to stores for a full refund.
