Sir Keir Starmer has been warned by a Labour MP that migrants "will keep coming" to Britain unless they are "convinced" that they will be removed from the UK upon arrival.
Speaking to GB News, Graham Stringer told host Martin Daubney that Britons "lost their patience a long time ago" with the escalating migrant crisis.
In Labour's latest move to tackle the small boat crossings, which surpassed 25,000 last week, the UK's "one in, one out" deal with France began on Monday.

The deal would see up to 50 illegal migrants a week sent back to France, in exchange for legal asylum seekers from across the Channel.
Discussing the crisis on GB News, Stringer claimed that French President Macron "has a better understanding of why people are coming to the United Kingdom than the Prime Minister does".
He explained: "People are coming here because they can jump our queues on housing and on the health service.
"They can get employed either legally or illegally, and they're going to keep coming until they believe that they're not going to be able to do those things, and they're going to be sent back from where they came."

Highlighting that the surging numbers of migrant crossings are causing "serious problems" for Britons, Stringer added: "Until we do that so that they're convinced there is no point taking the dangerous crossing across the Channel, I'm afraid these people are unwanted by the British population.
"They are causing us serious problems, and until they don't really believe that they're not going to succeed when they come to this country, they will keep on coming."
As Martin argued that the exchange deal with France is a "pea shooter compared to a tank" in regards to the number of migrants entering Britain, Stringer agreed.
He said: "I talk to people in my constituency and elsewhere in the country and people are very angry. People ran out of patience some time ago. They really want the Government to solve this problem. It is a problem, and it can't be wished away.

"It is not helpful if ministers go on television and say that these boats are full of frail women and children, they're not. They're full of young men who are coming here for a variety of reasons. Sometimes to cheat the health service and jump the queue in housing, so we we have to stop them."
Noting previous proposals of the Labour Government to tackle the migrant crisis, Stringer told GB News that he "doesn't know" how many migrants will be stopped by the scheme, but they "must be convinced" that they will be returned to France.
He concluded: "I don't know what numbers will be stopped. I think the Prime Minister recently said this isn't another gimmick, so there is an implication there that the previous proposals were gimmicks.
"We have to convince people who want to come here illegally that they're not going to be allowed to stay. And until we do that, then things are likely to get worse rather than better."
