GB News host Andrew Pierce has taken aim at "yet another" Labour U-turn after Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer called for a statutory national inquiry into grooming gangs.

Speaking on Britain's Newsroom, Andrew questioned if the Government "believe in anything", following the announcement.

Starmer told reporters en route to the G7 Summit in Canada that he has "accepted the recommendations" of Baroness Casey's report into the nationwide scandal.

Despite branding previous calls for an inquiry "far-right" and "jumping on the bandwagon", the Labour leader now admits it is "the right thing to do".

Highlighting the latest in a string of U-turns for Labour, Andrew told GB News viewers: "We're talking about yet another U-turn by this Government, which specialises in U-turns.

"We've had Winter Fuel, we're going to get a U-turn for sure on lifting the cap on two-child benefit, but we've had the big U-turn at the weekend on grooming gangs."

Criticising Starmer's decision to be "saved by the bell" ahead of a Commons vote on the issue, Andrew added: "As recently as January, Labour MPs were whipped to vote against a national grooming inquiry.

"But Baroness Casey's report is going to be published today. That was set up by Starmer's Government to look into grooming gangs.

"There was a vote due in the Commons on Wednesday on grooming gangs, Labour were probably going to vote against it.

"Saved by the bell, the Casey report comes out in time, we're now going to have a grooming gangs inquiry."

In a pointed attack on Starmer, Andrew fumed: "Does Starmer's lot believe in anything? This is all, in my view, because of Reform's success in May."

Delivering her verdict on the U-turn, co-host Bev Turner hailed the work of GB News reporter Charlie Peters in securing a national inquiry: "And arguably it's down to Charlie Peters's success, he's done a brilliant job.

"I've always been a little bit torn about this, because what what I really detest are ten-year inquiries that cost tens, sometimes hundreds of millions of pounds, when actually what you really want is for all the bad guys and all the people who covered up the bad guys to get their collars felt and get banged away. Call me old-fashioned."

Andrew then added: "Well, nobody so far, nobody has lost their job or been prosecuted for the manifest failure of these young girls. And they were just girls."

As Bev demanded a "criminal investigation" rather than an inquiry, Andrew argued that the national inquiry "could lead to that".

Bev explained: "But how long is it going to take? Ten years? They'll all be either dead, some of these old guys that were committing abuse, or they'll be out of their jobs anyway. And what will it matter, that's my worry.

"My understanding about the recommendations now is that the National Crime Agency will be involved, and they will, by all accounts, have been doing a very good job with the local inquiries. But the Prime Minister is under pressure of course."
