Katherine Forster said: "My 16-year-old son well, my 20-year-old already knew all about Charlie Kirk and had watched a lot of his stuff.

"But what really struck me was when the news came through. When President Trump said, “He’s dead,” I shouted out, 'Jonathan, he’s dead!' And he came in and said, 'of course he’s dead.'

"I asked, 'how did you know?' He said, 'Because he was shot in the neck.' I asked again, 'How did you know that?' And he replied, 'I’ve already seen it from three angles.'

"Now, he’s 16. And last night, my 20-year-old showed me one of the videos. It is incredibly graphic. It’s still on Instagram and currently has 20 million views.

"Isn’t that exactly what the Online Safety Act is supposed to prevent? Shouldn’t somebody have taken that down? That video shows a murder.

"We are very careful about what we broadcast on GB News we have strict rules on what we can and cannot show.

"Yet many of the same people who stand up for 'free speech' don’t want any kind of regulation on the internet.

"And that means you can never stop videos of violence like this from spreading worldwide.

"I understand that in the immediate aftermath, it’s hard to control what’s out there.

"But the point is, I watched that 10 minutes ago three days after the event and it’s still there. What are you doing about that?"

Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot fatally in the neck whilst speaking at a Utah University on Wednesday.

Mr Kirk rose to prominence in American conservative politics as the founder of Turning Point USA, which grew into the country’s largest conservative youth organisation.

The group played a key role in rallying young voter support for Donald Trump during the November election.
