A man who killed two Nottingham University students and a school caretaker in a knife and van rampage was sentenced to detainment in a high-security hospital indefinitely. 

Valdo Calocane admitted to three counts of manslaughter in Nottingham Crown Court earlier this week. He was charged with the deaths of university students Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar and school caretaker Ian Coates, who died in the attacks. 

The prosecution accepted the defendant's guilty pleas to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, due to his mental health and the judge sentenced him today. 

Emma Webber, mum of Barnaby, said: "True justice has not be served today. We as a devastated family have been let down by multiple agency failings." <span></span>

She said the CPS did not consult the families about accepting the manslaughter pleas.

She also said: "Rob Griffin, you have blood on your hands. If you had just done your job properly, there is a very high chance my beautiful boy would be alive today."
