JK Rowling has admitted she feels "appalled and ashamed" to hear that British Jews no longer feel safe on the streets of the UK following Thursday's terror attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall.

Two men, who've been identified as Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, were killed, and three others remain in hospital with serious injuries.

Jihad Al-Shamie, a 35-year-old British national of Syrian descent, drove at high speed into a group of Jewish worshippers before proceeding to attack victims with a knife.

He was shot dead by police at the scene, and the incident has left the nation reeling, with members of the Jewish community expressing their fears for their own safety.

Just hours after the Crumpsall terror attack, pro-Palestine demonstrators took to the streets in several UK cities to protest against Israel's military actions in Gaza.

The Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, branded those protesters, especially those who said they don't support Jews in the UK, as "un-British" and "utterly disgraceful".

The Met Police in London has also urged pro-Palestine protestors to step down from their plans to take to the streets once again this weekend as a sign of respect to the Jewish community.

Several famous faces have shared their heartbroken reactions to the news, with the likes of Rachel Riley, Rob Rinder, and Stacey Solomon among those showing solidarity with the Jewish community. Now, Ms Rowling has followed suit.

The Harry Potter author reacted to one X user who pondered: "I wonder how most Brits feel when they hear Jews say they no longer feel safe in the UK?"

Ms Rowling posted the question to her own feed, along with her answer: "I don’t know what most Brits feel, but I’m appalled and ashamed."

The Harry Potter author also reposted a social media post condemning the pro-Palestine demonstrations that took place less than 24 hours after the terror attack.

The post read: "You have to be pretty sick to go and chant 'from the river to the sea' at a train station on the day of an antisemitic terrorist attack in which two British Jews were murdered."

Ms Rowling was widely praised by her 14.4 million followers for speaking out in support of the Jewish community following the horrific attacks.

Meanwhile, Good Morning Britain's Mr Rinder similarly evoked an emotional reaction from his social media followers.

"On the holiest day of the year, we are attacked at a Manchester synagogue," he penned. "Our children walk to school behind barbed wire protected by guns. Yet some still answer this atrocity with 'what about…'

"This is my country, the sanctuary my grandfather found after surviving the Holocaust, promising freedom under the rule of law. Today I pray for the victims, thank the brave who responded and wonder if that promise is fading.

"A community this small cannot stand alone. If you believe in Britain (wherever you’re from & whatever your faith) you must stand with us. Many Jews cannot imagine a future here, and history tells us what follows when that happens."

Among the other prominent Jewish voices was actress Tracy-Ann Oberman, who echoed: "Where do we go from here? Yom Kippur - a day so holy and reverential that even the most non-observant Jew has it hardwired into their DNA.

"This brutal, frightening attack at Heaton Park Shul is after the government and media have let two years of venacular - televised chants - support of terrorism and jew hate incitement go unchecked.

"I speak on behalf of the community I love to say - Enough! Take this threat to the Jewish Community seriously. And - to the news outlets who have asked me to come on today to comment - this quote stands."

Elsewhere, Countdown's Ms Riley fumed: "As well as sending thoughts and prayers to those affected, we need to address the issue at large - rampant antisemitism running riot in our country, often excused or ignored.

"Each event I do, worried grandparents tell me the fears for their families’ futures in UK. Enough." (sic)
