Donald Trump has dismissed Emmanuel Macron's call to recognise a Palestinian state after the French President declared his country would acknowledge statehood in September.
Before the US President stepped onto Air Force One ahead of his four-day visit to Scotland, Trump said Macron's declaration wasn't "going to change anything".
"What he says doesn't matter," Trump said as he left the White House.
"It's not going to change anything."
It comes as Macron leads a push with other European countries, including the UK and Germany, to recognise a Palestinian state after the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Macron declared France will formally recognise a Palestinian state at the UN general assembly in September.
Sir Keir Starmer is also under pressure from 221 MPs to align with France's position on Palestine.
However, adopting this stance could risk harming his relationship with the Trump administration.

Technology Secretary Peter Kyle said: "We want Palestinian statehood, we desire it."
However, Kyle added: "We want to make sure the circumstances can exist where that kind of long-term political solution can have the space to evolve."
“But right now, today, we’ve got to focus on what will ease the suffering, and it is extreme, unwarranted suffering in Gaza that has to be the priority for us today."
In a blow to peace negotiations, Trump's special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, announced that ceasefire talks had been abandoned in Rome after aid agencies warned of a looming famine in Gaza.

Trump blamed Hamas for the collapse, saying the terror group: "Didn't really want to make a deal."
"I think they want to die," he said.
Speaking to media before jetting off to Scotland, Trump said the terrorist group knew "what happens after" the final hostages were retrieved.
"Basically, because of that, they really didn’t want to make a deal," Trump said.

"I saw that,” he said.
He also said that Israel are "going to have to fight, and they're going to have to clean it up".
"You're (Israel) going to have to get rid of it," Trump added.

In wake of the French President's announcement, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed that the US "strongly rejects Emmanuel Macron's plan to recognise a Palestinian state at the UN general assembly".
"This reckless decision only serves Hamas propaganda and sets back peace," he added.
"It is a slap in the face to the victims of October 7."
After Trump arrived in Scotland, he told media "it's up to him" when asked about Macron's decision before declaring it was "terrible what happened with Hamas".
