Footage emerged after the attack showing the victim was seen stumbling in a t-shirt soaked in blood and leaving red footprints on the floor of the hotel.
He required emergency surgery on January 30 following the horrific ordeal.
Barzegar has now been jailed for three years after being convicted of grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article.

It is unclear whether the Iranian national will face deportation, despite being sentenced.
Lamb said: "Whether the deportation provisions apply is not a matter for me."
It comes after new powers came into force in a bid to remove foreign criminals from British prisons.
Under the new plans introduced by Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood, foreign offenders in UK jails can be deported after serving 30 per cent of their sentence.
Mahmood said: "This Government is taking radical action to deport foreign criminals, as part of our plan for change.
"Our message is clear: if you abuse our hospitality and break our laws, we will send you packing."
