



A gunman has opened fire on a US high school leaving one dead and multiple injured.
At least one person was killed and several others were wounded in a shooting at Perry High School in Perry, Iowa.
The scene was "secured" as of 9:30am local time (3.30pm GMT), ABC reported, citing Dallas County officials.
According to the school district's calendar, the shooting took place at Perry High School on what was meant to be the first day of the spring semester.

Perry, a town of about 7,900, is about 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Des Moines, the state's capital city.
Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante said the shooter at the Perry High School in Iowa has been identified.
He declined to provide further details on the shooter's current condition, but he added there will be another update soon where more details would be shared.
Sheriff Infante said that classes hadn't started yet when the shooting took place. The shooting was reported at about 7:37am CT.
Emergency services are still in attendance at the High School
