A fitness influencer has revealed her approach to developing defined abdominal muscles through targeted exercises and strict dietary discipline.

Nemo, who shares fitness content on TikTok under the username @nemoqueen, advocates combining specific core-strengthening movements with nutritional changes.

The fitness enthusiast, who transformed her physique after the birth of her child, emphasised that achieving visible abs requires more than just exercise. She declared: "Pelvic floor exercises will help with strengthening your deep abdominal muscles.

"Remember to look at [your] nutrition too. I was in calorie deficit and eating steamed-only food for the first four weeks."

Nemo's routine centres on two key movements that target the deep core muscles. She explained that fat reduction is a crucial element in achieving abdominal muscles.

"Fat loss comes from being in a calorie deficit, and if you want to keep your curves? Weight training is a must. Strong, sculpted and balanced, that's the real goal," Nemo said.

The dead bug exercise, performed while lying on one's back, involves coordinated movements of opposite arms and legs to engage the abdominal muscles and enhance stability.

This movement not only helps sculpt the midsection but also contributes to better posture and can alleviate back discomfort. She performs this exercise for 40-second intervals.

Following the dead bug, Nemo incorporates reverse crunches into her routine. This helps create a more toned appearance by strengthening the core muscles and defining the abdominal wall when paired with appropriate nutrition.

She follows this with a reverse plank, bird dog and half plank, for 40 seconds each. The reverse plank requires sitting with the legs extended and the hands behind the hips, pointing towards the feet. This strengthens the lower abs while simultaneously engaging the glutes and hamstrings.

Bird dog involves getting into an all-fours position and extending one arm forward and the opposite leg back, keeping the hips and shoulders square to improve the appearance of a flat, toned midsection.

The final step of the routine is dedicated to half planks, a variation of the traditional plank performed on the forearms instead of the hands.

Nemo stresses that core exercises alone are insufficient for achieving visible abdominal definition. "These exercises help me build a strong core, but the truth is - core workouts alone won't give you abs!" she stated in another video.

Her approach underscores that while targeted exercises strengthen and define the abdominal muscles, they cannot eliminate the fat layer that obscures them without proper dietary management.

But the approach to achieving a calorie deficit requires careful balance. Fitness experts recommend combining at least 30 minutes of daily physical activity with a reduction of approximately 500 calories from one's daily intake.

Extreme restrictions should be avoided, as severely limiting food intake deprives the body of vital nutrients required for proper functioning and can ultimately hinder fitness goals.

As Nemo's approach demonstrates, incorporating weight training alongside dietary changes allows for muscle preservation and development while reducing body fat.
