If you're anticipating Google's newest wireless earbuds, leaked details suggest the Pixel Buds 2a could arrive on August 20 alongside the and Pixel Watch 4.

The tech giant has been sending out invites for its Made by Google 2025 launch event in New York City, where we expect to see it announce an all-new Google Pixel 10 lineup, new Pixel Watch smartwatch, and now, a new pair of Pixel Buds 2a.

These would be the long-awaited successors to the Pixel Buds A-Series from 2021. The A-series is historically Google's more affordable lineup than Google's Pro models, which are seen as a more premium option.

Google Pixel Buds are often recognised for their comfortable fit, clear sound, and deep Google Assistant integration, offering hands-free controls, real-time translation, and smart features that work seamlessly with Android devices.

According to recent leaks from sources such as Evan Blass, the new earbuds appear to adopt a slimmer design compared to their predecessor. Mockup photos have emerged over the past few days, though Google hasn't confirmed any details officially.

You'll notice the removal of the stabiliser arc that was featured on earlier models, replaced by a small rubber protrusion on the rear for secure fitting. This can be seen really clearly in a series of images , which appear to show the incoming Pixel Buds in a new Irish Purple shade.

The microphone configuration has reportedly been repositioned to sit beneath a printed "G" logo, rather than the engraved version found on pricier models. The proximity sensor, which signals whether the buds are in or out of your ears, has also been relocated in the leaked photos.

Colour options shown in leaks include an Iris purple shade and a darker grey variant. Additional hues called Hazel and Fog Light have been mentioned, though we haven't seen any correlating images yet.

Feature-wise, active noise cancellation is expected, though without any indication of the advanced Silent Seal 2.0 technology present in Google's other models. This specific feature is designed to adapt to the shape of your ear for added comfort.

The leaked photos, however, retain silicone ear tips, just like its other available models.

Battery performance is expected to include seven hours of listening time, extending to 20 hours when combined with the charging case. This falls slightly short of the Pixel Buds Pro 2's eight and 30 hours, respectively.

Based on the leaked information so far, notable absences include wireless charging for the carry case. There's also no mention of conversation detection features, which allow the buds to automatically switch from noise cancellation or music playback to a transparency mode when you start speaking.

Pricing details from some European sources indicate a substantial cost increase for these earbuds.

WinFuture the Pixel Buds 2a will retail at €149 in Europe, representing a 50% jump from the previous generation's €99 price point. This significant increase, if reflected across other markets, could translate to approximately £149 in the UK and $149 in the US, though official pricing for these regions remains unconfirmed.
