"Jesus disciples also knew the pain of dashed expectations. For three years, they'd seen miracles and momentum. Here's the one who's going to beat back the Romans and put our country on the map.

"But instead, Jesus speaks of his return to heaven. No earthly kingdom. The Romans are still in charge. It's not coming home."
