The new French Prime Minister, Sebastien Lecornu, has resigned from his position after less then a month in the position.

After only 27 days in office, Mr Lecornu handed his resignation which has already been accepted by Emmanuel Macron.

<p>Mr Lecornu has been a close ally of Mr Macron, having replaced Francois Bayrou on September 9.</p><p>Despite only unveiling part of his cabinet yesterday, the Prime Minister resigned, having faced mounting pressure following several weeks of intense nationwide protests over proposed public spending cuts.</p>
