A number of Meta apps are down, leaving tens of thousands of users to experience a major international outage from around 6pm UK time. 

This has affected a number of apps including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Over 23,000 reports of Facebook being down in the UK after 6pm, according to DownDetector, which tracks whether sites are up and running. Meanwhile, the US there were over 100,000 reports.

In response to the technical difficulties, Facebook has said: “We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”Over 70,000 reports that Instagram was down were made to DownDetector.WhatsApp is now back up and running.
