Ukrainian forces have pulled off a precision strike on a Russian intelligence ship worth £45million near Novorossiysk in the Black Sea in a huge blow to Moscow.
The 240-foot MPSV07 spy vessel has had its electronic warfare systems completely trashed in a drone attack, leaving it out of action.
Explosive video footage shows Ukrainian drones hitting the reconnaissance ship dead-on, wiping out its high-tech warfare equipment. The damage is so severe that it’s going to take time and money to get it back in service.
At the time, the intelligence vessel was busy spying on Ukraine, collecting electronic intel, but now it’s another major loss for Russia’s naval power in the region.
The MPSV07 is one of four Russian intelligence ships on surveillance duties, and it’s packed with diving complexes, remotely operated vehicles, side-scan sonar and electronic warfare systems, according to Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence.
These capabilities mean the ship can carry out underwater reconnaissance and spy on Ukrainian forces. But this drone strike specifically wiped out its electronic warfare systems a crippling hit to its operational capacity.
