NextImg:Donald Trump ‘going after’ Taylor Swift as pop star threatens to 'tip balance' of US election

Donald Trump is “going after” Taylor Swift amid fears the pop star is seeking to tip the balance of the US election, according to a political commentator.

It comes after the New York Times reported that the Biden campaign was actively hoping for Swift’s endorsement.

While Trump is yet to comment on the matter, US political analyst Eric Ham suggested he is “going after” the Blank Space star behind the scenes.

Swift has millions of loyal fans, and some Republicans fear that her endorsing Biden could prove decisive in the election.

“We are seeing a lot of pushback in the US”, he said.

“There are a lot of rumblings that Donald Trump is starting to go after Taylor Swift.

“The thinking is that, Taylor Swift has done a lot of voter registration at her concerts where 10s of thousands of voters have signed up.

“There’s concern that she could become more active and engaged in this upcoming election, and with her massive following, there’s a thinking that she would certainly put her thumb on the scale for these two candidates.

“The Trump team are concerned that she would support Joe Biden.”

Former Presidential candidate and Trump ally Vivek Ramaswamy is perhaps the most high-profile Republican to wade into the matter, suggesting the NFL is rigging football games for Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, to go to the Super Bowl.

Kelce is set to participate at the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month”, Ramaswamy said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall.”

Trump is gaining momentum as he seeks a rematch with Joe Biden at the 2024 election.

After victories in the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary, polls appear to be giving Trump a slight advantage over his adversary.

CNN released a poll showing that Trump holds a four-point lead, with 34 per cent of Americans having a favourable opinion of Biden.

But Trump’s rating of 39 per cent could prove to be an issue, with voters appearing to not be overwhelmingly in favour of the alternative.
