



Martina Navratilova has claimed that Donald Trump didn't clap following Carlos Alcaraz's US Open triumph over Jannik Sinner on Sunday night, while also accusing the US President of being 'so jealous'.
Alcaraz produced a masterclass in New York to secure the sixth major of his career, with the 22-year-old winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Sinner had been the world No 1 but has now been knocked off his perch by his rival following the third straight Grand Slam final between the pair.
In attendance for the mouthwatering showdown was Trump, who has made attending big sporting events a regular occurance during his second term of presidency.

This resulted in delays, with both Alcaraz and Sinner eventually walking out on court 37 minutes later than planned.
Now, Navratilova has claimed on X that Trump 'didn't clap once' following Alcaraz's sensational victory.
And the tennis legend also claimed the US President was 'jealous' of Alcaraz for being the centre of attention.

She wrote: "Never saw Trump clap. Not once. He is so jealous!!!"
"And when the whole place erupted clapping for Bruce Springsteen while playing Born in the USA it was magical!!!"
Navratilova also covered the match for Sky Sports.
Speaking live on air, she admitted that Alcaraz was a worthy winner - with the Spaniard dropping just one set throughout the tournament on his way to glory.

"Alcaraz just brings his best when it matters the best," she said.
"I think he doesn't feel the pressure agasint Sinner because he knows he has to play well and if he loses, it's okay.
"Carlos has just got a slightly bigger game than Jannik, and when it cooks he is practically unbeatable.
"The numbers don't lie, Alcaraz was better across the board."
Alcaraz himself, meanwhile, was delighted with his win.
And he also made a joke about his rivalry with Sinner, quipping that he sees more of his nemesis than he does his entire family.
"It's unbelievable what Jannik has done throughout the whole season, a great level in every tournament," stated the youngster.
"I see you more than my family!

"This tournament is incredible and it's a privilege to be a part of it.

Alcaraz's US Open triumph was his second at Flushing Meadows, having previously won the title in 2022. He also has two Wimbledon crowns and two French Open titles to his name.
