NextImg:Dawn Neesom snaps at GB News guest over ‘far-right’ remark during migrant hotel row

Watch the moment GB News star Dawn Neesom snaps at ex-Labour candidate Kevin Craig for mentioning the far-right during a debate about migrant hotels.

The pair, alongside Reform UK’s Andrea Jenkyns, were discussing protesters gathering outside a hotel in Canary Wharf, London, housing asylum seekers.

Craig was defending the Government’s approach, insisting plans to remedy the situation will eventually bear fruit and the use of migrant hotels will “slowly turn”.

He took aim at protesters on both sides, saying people on both the far-right and the far-left have caused trouble.

Dawn Neesom questioned a remark made by Craig

“What I am going to say is, I have noticed a lot of protests attract extremists from the far-right and the far-left and I don’t want to see a single police officer threatened by these people”, he said.

“Protesters wearing masks in public is totally unacceptable and breeds fears. People have a right to protest, but extremists try and jump on the bandwagon.”

Jenkyns said she joined a rally in Lincolnshire against Ed Miliband’s net zero plans recently that leftists arrive at and cause havoc.

“I agree, those on the left need to allow people to democratically protest in peace”, she said.

Hundreds of anti-immigration protesters marched outside Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf where asylum seekers are being housed

“The reason I mentioned them was for balance. It’s important.”

Law enforcement agencies are preparing for heightened unrest at asylum accommodation facilities across England, with demonstrations scheduled in Bournemouth, Liverpool and Portsmouth throughout the coming week.

The anticipated protests follow a weekend of violent confrontations that saw multiple arrests and physical altercations between opposing groups.

Security forces expect significant challenges on Saturday, when Palestine Action supporters have been encouraged to gather in central London despite the organisation's recent classification as a terrorist entity. The convergence of multiple protest movements threatens to stretch police resources beyond capacity.

Andrea Jenkyns was also critical of Craig's mention of the far-right

“And the far-right as well”, said Craig, a comment that sparked a lively reaction from Dawn.

Dawn Neesom waded in: “What gets me is, when you talk about the far-left and Antifa, people on the left always mention the far-right.

“Why do you do that? We weren’t talking about the far-right.”

Asked to define what the far-right is, he said: “The far-right in my view are extreme, racist groups who have a white supremacy ideology.

The demonstrations represent an intensification of protests that began at The Bell Hotel in Epping last month, where an Ethiopian refugee faces sexual assault charges involving a minor.

Since then, confrontations have erupted in Diss, Manchester, Edinburgh and London, with masked individuals attempting to breach the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf on Sunday.

Saturday's confrontation in Islington resulted in nine individuals being detained after anti-fascist demonstrators clashed with those opposing the use of the Thistle City Barbican Hotel for asylum seekers.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that eight of those arrested were counter-demonstrators, with charges including breaching public order conditions and assaulting emergency workers.
