Child killer Lucy Letby has lost her application at the Court of Appeal after being slapped with 14-whole life orders in August.

Letby, 34, from Hereford, was convicted of carrying out the offences at the Countess of Chester Hospital's neonatal unit.

She was found guilty of seven counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder.

Letby, who worked at the Countess of Chester's Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016, was cleared of two further attempted murder charges.

Jurors were unable to reach verdicts on six counts of attempted murder, relating to five children.

Dame Victoria Sharp confirmed Letby's appeal was unsuccessful while sitting alongside Lord Justice Holroyde.

The judges decision brings Letby's appeal process to an end.

The full details of Letby’s appeal bid, which was argued on four points, cannot currently be reported for legal reasons.

The full reasons for the judges’ decision for refusing her bid to appeal have not been made public.

Letby will face a retrial at the Manchester Crown Court in June on a single count that she attempted to murder a baby girl, known as Child K, in February 2016.

The identities of the surviving and killed children and their families also cannot be reported.
