A child has died after falling from the "upper floor" of a block of flats in South London, police have said.

Emergency services had swarmed to the scene on Hotspur Street in Kennington just before 4.30pm this afternoon, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

The Metropolitan Police told GB News: "Police were called at 4.23pm on Friday, May 24, to a child having fallen from the upper floor of a flat on Hotspur Street, SE11.

"Officers attended along with LAS. Despite their efforts, the child was pronounced dead.

"The child's family have been informed.

"At this very early stage, there is nothing to indicate that the incident is suspicious, however enquires are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

"Cordons are in place at the scene."

GB News has approached the London Ambulance Service for comment.
