A national fault is impacting railway services, causing misery for commuters.

National Rail said the issue relates to the communication system used between train drivers and signallers.

A spokesman said: "Trains across the network are having to start their journeys later because of this fault and some may also be subject to cancellations or alterations."

Commuters are being advised to check ahead before they travel throughout the morning.

Services between Reading / Heathrow Airport and Reading on the Elizabeth Line are impacted by this incident. Meanwhile, Scotrail are advising commuters with valid tickets to travel "via any reasonable route."
