A British journalist has gone missing in Brazil after she lost contact with her family for over 10 days.
Charlotte Peet, 32, was first reported as missing after she messaged one of her friends in Rio de Janeiro on February 8 - alerting her that she was in Sao Paolo.
She said that she had planned to travel to Rio but would need accommodation.
An association of foreign correspondents has now called for local authorities to increase the search for the freelance reporter.
Charlotte Peets was reported missing on February 8
Fluent in Portuguese, Peet was working as a foreign correspondent in Latin America for news organisations including Al Jazeera and The Times.
Her family has been unable to make contact with her since her last message.
A friend in Rio de Janeiro, who met Peet two years ago when she moved to Brazil, reported her missing after becoming concerned about her lack of response.
"The ACIE and its board of directors call on the competent authorities to intensify the search in order to find the British journalist as soon as possible," a statement which was made on behalf of its president Edmar Figueiredo and its board of directors said.
