A body has been found in the search for jogger Jenny Hall, who went missing five days ago, Durham Constabulary have said.

Officers have been searching for the 23-year-old since Tuesday (February 18), when she was last seen leaving her County Durham home just after 3pm.

On Sunday, Durham police said: "We're sorry to report that officers searching for missing woman Jenny Hall, have sadly found a body.

"Officers carried out an extensive search alongside specialist partners and have been working around-the-clock to locate Jenny after she went missing on February 18.

"The body was found in a very remote area in Teesdale just after 9.30am today."

The force said that formal identification has yet to take place but the 23-year-old's family have been informed.

The family are being supported by specialised officers. "They have asked for privacy at this devastating time," the force said in a statement.

"It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

The 23-year-old was last seen leaving her home in Barracks Farm, Tow Law, on February 18 wearing a blue hoodie with a John Deere logo and dark jogging bottoms.

Her family raised the alarm at 9pm that evening, reporting she may have been carrying a green jacket.

Her car - a red Ford Focus - was found parked on the B6278 the following day.

Following this discovery, rescue teams have been scouring remote moorland between Eggleston and Stanhope to try and find the 23-year-old.
