A new poll has suggested Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is twice as popular as Donald Trump among Americans.
Zelensky is at 18 per cent net favourability with the current Republican president at 16 per cent net unfavourability.
Topping the poll by Gallup of 1,002 people’s opinions over key world figures, Zelensky was in second place behind the recently appointed Pope Leo XIV, the first American pontiff. Pope Leo’s net favourability stands at 46 per cent.
The only other figure with net positivity out of the 14 names was socialist Senator for Vermont and former Democratic Presidential hopeful, Bernie Sanders.
According to the poll, Zelensky is seen 68 per cent net positively by Democrats and 23 per cent net negatively by Republicans.
Meanwhile, President Trump is 91 per cent net negative among Democrats and 86 per cent net positive among supporters of his own Republican party.
At the bottom of the table was former Trump ally and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, with a -18 per cent net approval rating.
Musk fell behind Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

It comes as the possibility of a three-way meeting of Trump, Zelensky and Vladimir Putin was discussed in a bilateral between US special envoy Steve Witkoff and the Russian President.
However, while Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed Putin and Trump will meet in the coming days, the Russian side had left a potential three-way meeting "completely without comment".
"We propose, first of all, to focus on preparing for a bilateral meeting with Trump and we believe that the main thing is for this meeting to be successful and productive.
"It was noted again that Russian-American relations can be built according to a completely different, mutually beneficial scenario, significantly different from how they have developed in recent years."

There has been no summit of US and Russian leaders since Putin and Joe Biden met in Geneva in June 2021. Russia went to war in Ukraine in February 2022, throwing relations between Washington and Moscow into deep crisis.
Trump has moved to mend relations with Russia and try to end the war, although in his public comments he has swerved between admiration and sharp criticism of Putin's regime.
Ushakov said a summit venue had been agreed between the two parties but would be announced later.
Putin was due to meet the president of the United Arab Emirates today, which Kremlin sources have previously suggested as a possible venue.

Meanwhile, Zelensky is believed to have spoken with European leaders earlier today including Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron about his recent correspondence with Trump.
In a social media post after the call with Macron, Zelensky said that there was still no public response from Russia on its readiness for a "real ceasefire."
"We are coordinating our positions and we equally see the need for a common European view on key security issues for Europe," Zelensky wrote.
A spokesman for the Government in Berlin said: "Both [Zelensky and Merz] agreed to maintain close contact with European partners and the US."
