



At least eight people have been injured, some seriously, after a "mass stabbing" at a major German railway station.
Police in Hamburg have launched a "major operation" after the attacks - said to have happened on Friday afternoon.
A woman was arrested at the scene, German outlet Bild reported. Police later confirmed they made an arrest, but have not yet released further information about the alleged attacker's identity.
"We are investigating the background and will provide further information shortly," a local police statement at 5.30pm BST says.
Just after 6pm, a further statement said: "According to initial findings, a person allegedly injured several people with a knife at the station. The suspect was arrested by police."

Crowds of people can be seen looking on as dozens of emergency services personnel and vehicles stand outside the major transport hub.
According to local broadcaster NDR, Hamburg's fire department says that three people have been critically injured, three have been seriously injured, and six were "slightly injured".
