President Donald Trump's Scotland visit has, as ever, exceeded expectations, but it has, perhaps most importantly, set an example for the UK.

First, we saw a masterful performance in his negotiations with the European Union, showing us what a strong sovereign nation looks like.

The EU conceded to a deal that prioritises American interests, particularly in key industrial sectors where the US had long been at a disadvantage.

That's what happens when you have a leader who understands power and isn't afraid to use it.

Jacob Rees-Mogg says Keir Starmer was outshone by Trump

But the further good news is that the UK is not in the same position as the European Union.

We're in a better position; we have our own trade deal which gives us better terms than them.

And crucially, we were able to negotiate it for ourselves, something we could not have done whilst we were in the European Union.

Even the socialists, even this Labour government, has now admitted this.

But Donald Trump's example doesn't end with trade. That’s exactly what we need, a tax cut bill, but also on censorship.

Trump has shown that you can actually reduce illegal migration. 91 per cent reduction in illegals crossing the Mexican border in April of this year.

At every turn, the Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, has been outshone in how to lead and advanced the nation’s interest.

Rather than paying the Mauritians billions to take the Chagos islands from us or giving millions to Singapore for potty Net Zero projects, or handing over the use of our fishing waters to the EU, we need to look at what Trump does and put the United Kingdom first.
