Christmas shoppers will be rushing to get last-minute items for presents and festive feasts over the next few days but Britons are being reminded that major supermarkets will have different opening times.

This is due to shops running special Christmas and New Year's opening hours with households being urged to check when their local stores will be open.

Among the retailers with different opening times this year include Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Tesco, Asda, Marks & Spencer, Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose and Amazon Fresh.

This year, the supermarket's Welcome Break Service station sites will remain on Christmas Day, as well as locations in Shell petrol stations.

Despite this, most stores will be closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. However, a small number are understood to be open to the public and for Uber Eats and Deliveroo orders.
