Andrew Pierce has praised Donald Trump's military intervention to combat crime in Washington DC, suggesting London's mayor should "take note."

President Trump announced that the US Government would be deploying military forces and assuming direct authority over the city's police force.

Speaking about this on GB News, host Miriam Cates said: "He's very decisive, isn't he? I mean, he does change his mind, but he's also very decisive."

Andrew Pierce said: "I bet he'd ban the Notting Hill Carnival too probably because, while it's apparently an important part of culture, it’s also a hotbed for criminality. I went once. Never again."

Miriam agreed and added: "Once you let things slide the homelessness, the drug-taking it becomes the normal, and you then need quite an extreme solution to get things back on track. I suppose that's what he's trying to do."

"Of course, the Democrats are very against it. They say there hasn’t been a rise in crime in fact, it’s falling.

Andrew said: "But is that down to the threat of the National Guard going in? I think it’s a deterrent effect. Good on him. Well done."

"Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, take note. He’s got no authority over the National Guard, of course, but our streets don’t feel very safe."

Miriam agreed: "We could definitely do with some of that here."

The Republican leader announced that Washington's Metropolitan Police would be placed under federal government jurisdiction whilst National Guard soldiers would patrol the capital's streets.

Speaking at the White House yesterday, Trump proclaimed: "This is Liberation Day in DC, and we're going to take our capital back."

The president has criticised local law enforcement and prosecutors for being insufficiently stringent.

The security initiative involves deploying 800 National Guard personnel to Washington's streets, with Trump indicating additional forces could be mobilised if required.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that specialised National Guard units might also participate, emphasising: "They will be strong, they will be tough, and they will stand with their law enforcement partners."

The administration has already increased federal presence in the capital, with Trump revealing: "Last week my administration surged 500 federal agents into the district including from the FBI, ATF, DEA, Park Police, the US Marshals Service, the Secret Service, and the Department of Homeland Security."

The President indicated this approach would extend beyond Washington, specifically mentioning New York City and Chicago as potential targets for similar interventions.

Attorney General Pam Bondi declared: "Let me be crystal clear, crime in DC is ending and it's ending today."
