



One huge draw of a staycation is that you can often take your furry friends with you, and the UK has some of the best pet-friendly beaches.
New analysis looked at the top dog-friendly beaches in Europe, with an impressive eight out of 20 being found in the UK.
The study by CV Villas analysed more than 130 coastal locations across the continent, considering factors like climate conditions, beach dimensions and surface characteristics to establish definitive rankings for canine-friendly seaside spots.
La Teste-de-Buch's Plage de la Salie in France was in the number one spot, but plenty of British beaches were deemed worth visiting.

Finding a good beach for pet owners can be a challenge, particularly during peak summer periods when European beaches impose restrictions on dogs.
But British coasts such a Holkham Beach, Saunton Beach, Rhossili Bay and Sandhead Beach are all fantastic options for your next staycation.
The experts found their results by looking at annual temperature averages, beach dimensions, and terrain types to create a scoring system rated out of one hundred points. The beaches maintain year-round accessibility for dogs, though leads are required at some of the options.

British beaches ranked particularly well, taking up more than half the positions within the top 10. Norfolk's expansive Holkham Beach, spanning 6.43 kilometres within a vast nature reserve, secured third position with 82.38 points.
The location permits dogs throughout the year, though lead restrictions apply during bird nesting seasons.
Saunton Sands in Devon narrowly missed third place by just 0.06 points, whilst Rhossili Bay in Wales, described as "the supermodel of British beaches", completed the top five.
The Welsh location features three miles of sandy coastline beneath dramatic cliffs, with unrestricted access along the Worm's Head peninsula.
