The View Unhinged
It’s difficult to round up weekly examples of Left-wing hysteria and stupidity without including the latest from ABC’s inexplicably long-running gabfest for progressive white cat-ladies, The View. Case in point: in the video clip below, co-hostess Sunny Hostin, who is considered the intellectual among the show’s gaggle of propagandists (not a notable achievement when the cast includes Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar), comes unhinged in defense of The Late Show host and fellow propagandist Stephen Colbert.
Colbert’s show was cancelled as of next spring because it had been hemorrhaging money (at least $40 million a year) for years – something Hostin neglected to mention. He took David Letterman’s late-night legacy and drove it off a cliff because he is arguably the unfunniest of all talk show hosts (Seth Meyers gives him stiff competition for that dubious honor) and he relentlessly politicized the show, but the Left has seized upon this as an opportunity to hype him as a free speech martyr to President Trump’s fascist regime.
Sunny Hostin ranted that Colbert’s firing “is the dismantling of our democracy, This is the dismantling of our Constitution.” She added,
If the comedians are being attacked, then that means our Constitution is being dismantled … What are we going to do as a country? We must protect our Constitution and we must protect our democracy. This is bigger than just the cancellation of a television show.
Oh, FFS. No, it’s not. Dial it back, Sunny. It has nothing to do with the dismantling of the Constitution, which by the way, is a Democrat objective, not a Right-wing one. Colbert’s freedom to speak is not being choked off (and in any case, there are still 327 other late-night talk shows, 100 percent of which are hosted by Democrat shills). It’s nothing more than the inevitable cancellation of a cringe-worthy show that cannot justify its insanely bloated budget.
Comedians aren’t being “attacked.” Trump is not “coming after” them. No President in history has ever been (and continues to be) the target of so many vicious progressive hacks posturing as “comedians,” not one of whom is in danger of being cancelled or silenced. But let one talentless bore (out of many) lose his job because he and his staff aren’t worth $100 million a year, and suddenly The View raises the alarm that soon, no one will be allowed to tell a joke in this country. And predictably, the show’s live audience clapped like seals and nodded along: “Yes, yes, democracy must be saved!”
Hunter Unhinged
Speaking of unhinged, Hunter Biden recently sat down for a lengthy interview with something called Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan that is remarkable for his off-the-charts energy level and profanity. Crack-and-prostitute enthusiast Hunter turns out to be much more entertaining than Stephen Colbert (maybe ABC should install Hunter as the Late Show host).
Among other rants, Hunter blasted fellow Democrats he believes “undermined” his senile dad, from George Clooney to David Axelrod to James Carville [Language alert]:
Fuck [Clooney]. Fuck him and everybody around him. I don’t have to be fucking nice. Number one, I agree with Quentin Tarantino—fucking George Clooney is not a fucking actor. He is a fucking—like, I don’t know what he is. He’s a brand.
And by the way, God bless him. You know what? He supposedly treats his friends really well, you know what I mean? Buys them things, and he’s got a really great place in Lake Como, and he’s great friends with Barack Obama.
Fuck you.
But he really came unglued on the topic of immigration, and Trump’s targeting of illegals:
How do you think your hotel room gets cleaned? How do you think you have food on your fucking table? Who do you think washes your dishes? Who do you think does your fucking garden? Who do you think is here by the fucking sheer fucking just grit and will that they figured out a way to get here because they thought that they could give themselves and their family a better chance.
“And [Trump’s] somehow convinced all of us that these people are the fucking criminals,” continued criminal Biden, who was pardoned by his father, claiming wildly that “white men in America are 45 more times likely to commit a fucking violent crime than an immigrant.”
He added that if he became president “in two years from now, or four years from now, or three years from now,”
I would pick up the phone and call the fucking president in El Salvador and say, “You either fucking send [deported illegals] back or I’m going to fucking invade.” It’s a fucking crime. What they’re doing is a fucking dictator.
It’s even funnier, or actually more tragic, when you realize Hunter was a trusted advisor to his father, the former President.
Pringle Unhinged
I can’t do an “unhinged edition” of the Wednesday Quick Takes without including National Education Association President Becky Pringle. Earlier this month she led delegates in a scary chant of “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” at the union’s Annual Meeting and Representative Assembly in Portland, Oregon.
One X poster described it as “demented. It looks like an exorcism.” But it’s par for the course for Pringle and the Democrat Party as a whole. This is what politics-as-religion looks like.
