When Kamala picked Gov. Tim Walz, she thought she was getting a bona fide war hero to stand behind her.
Turns out that the only combat Tim saw was squabbling over gelatos in Italy. Not only did Gov. Walz duck and run when he knew he would have to serve in Iraq, but he launched his political career as a war veteran. Living a lie, Walz spent the years since carefully massaging his phrases to make it sound like he had been in a war zone.
But as it turns out, not only did Walz mislead the public, but he didn’t know the difference between Iraq and Afghanistan.
“In the years after that classroom, I had the privilege of serving in this state’s national guard. I stood one night in the dark of night on the tarmac at Bagram Air Base in Iraq and watched a military ramp ceremony–a soldier’s body being loaded onto a plane to be returned home,” Walz said in a 2021 speech.
Not only is Walz playing this little game where he groups events together or leaves out context to make it seem like he’s seen war (he did this also with a speech about PTSD) but Bagram isn’t in Iraq.
It’s in Afghanistan.
It’s one thing to expect this sort of idiocy from Kamala or Joe Biden, but Walz’s sales pitch is that he’s a world traveler who lived in China and a war veteran.
Walz ducked out of serving in Iraq, but maybe he thought it was in Afghanistan.
