Why did the Supreme Court reject out of hand a theory that the former president could be disqualified from appearing on state ballots because individual Democrat state officials decided, on their own, that he was an insurrectionist?

Because it was a ridiculous fringe theory.

Justice Sotomayor tried and failed to rally fellow lefty justices to get behind much of a dissent.

In the end, the justices agreed that states can’t just decide federal elections based on their own whims. The outcome was obvious even if once again the Mueller die hards lied to their base about the outcome.

But that’s not really good news.

The Supreme Court 9-0 shot down a fringe leftist conspiracy theory that leftists decided to implement in multiple states.

This is the trend going forward.

The Left will keep pushing the Overton Window knowing that the norms have to play defense and will eventually lose. That is how fanatics operate. Beginning with Obama, Democrats suddenly decided that previously unthinkable things were now thinkable. That is how we ended up with ObamaCare. It’s how we ended up with DACA. And a raft of other things.

The Supreme Court stopped this particular overreach, but it failed to stop and went along with plenty of others.
