There has rarely been as simple and a revealing a choice as the TikTok ban.
After outsourcing much of our economy to China, the TikTok app handed over our youth and much of our politics to China. Banning it should have been a straight and simple call. The fact that it’s not shows how much influence China has over our politics and our elites.
China would never allow an American social media app to operate in its country. Twitter and Facebook are banned there. With TikTok, China has the best of both worlds, it’s able to influence us, but we can’t influence it.
The amount of data on Americans that TikTok gobbles up is potentially incredible. And in light of a series of recent high-profile military espionage cases, it’s worth asking how much of that data is potentially actionable.
We should also be cracking down on domestic Big Tech monopolies like Facebook which continues to dominate social media, but Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, the existence of Parler, TruthSocial, etc has improved the domestic environment a bit for conservatives.
TikTok however remains a massive national security threat and an enemy influence operation that is wrecking American society while promoting the most destructive elements of the leftist culture war.
If Congress can’t ban TikTok, then it is hopelessly corrupt.
