The argument for anchor baby citizenship for people who are at least here legally is dubious to begin with, but the argument for anchor baby citizenship for illegal aliens doesn’t exist. Even in the unlikely possibility that our founding documents intended to grant citizenship to children born in this country to non-citizens, they certainly didn’t intend to grant citizenship to people here illegally in violation of the law.

But that mere technicality isn’t about to stop the open borders crowd and the media from loudly insisting that American children are being deported along with their illegal alien parents. If illegal aliens are being deported, then it goes without saying that any children they have will also be deported with them. The alternative is to leave a 2-year-old with no parents in this country or not to deport any illegal alien criminals with kids.

And we know which of those options the open borders crowd is angling for and it’s not the orphanage.

It’s also why it’s impossible to really have mass deportations of illegal aliens without taking on the anchor baby issue. Citizenship cannot be the result of giving birth while occupying American airspace. Treating it that way has created an entire enterprise in Chinese birth tourism and illegal invaders who know that once they give birth, they can never leave.

Still if the open borders crowd wants this so badly, then illegal alien parents can have one of two choices. They can either leave with their kids or without them. What they cannot do is stay here. And I’m sure the open borders crowd will then adopt the kids out of the goodness of their hearts.
