Every now and then, Democrat consultants try to tell their party to stop being a group of elitist out-of-touch ideologues living in an echo chamber so narrow that it couldn’t fit a gopher, but then they give up because it’s hopeless.

81% of Americans say crime is a major problem. Democrats spent the last 4 years loudly insisting they’re wrong.

Now, after Trump’s D.C. crackdown, violent crime was cut in half.

Violent crime is down 49%. Robberies are down 62%. Car thefts are down 35%.

But the party of elitist out of touch ideologues has a counterargument.

Sure, sure, combined violent crime incidents dropped from 180 to 92. There are people whose lives are far better for not having been mugged or assaulted. Not to mention those who weren’t murdered, but what’s really important is that restaurant reservations are down because some illegal alien criminals are afraid to come and bus tables, and in a city filled with poor people, restaurants can’t figure out how to replace them.

This is the 21st century version of “Let them eat cake”. Forget the murder, rape and mugging victims. Won’t someone please think of the wine list.
