For years I’d been hearing the name Taylor Swift but dismissed her as yet another whiny voiced female singer hoping to attain legendary status.
Then, like a comet hitting earth, Taylor Swift became the media’s ultimate obsession.
Her name has been ground into the collective consciousness from every news and entertainment outlet imaginable. No space is large enough to list the names of these outlets (including The Wall Street Journal) where ‘breaking news’ has been demoted to mean a kiss between her and a certain football player.
Swift, who used to call herself apolitical, is now in bed with the Left.
Her 2020 endorsement of Joe Biden and her song, “Only the Young” for Biden’s presidential campaign, is a case in point.
The Swiftian metamorphosis didn’t happen overnight, however.
Consider the criticism she generated from the left when it came to feminist causes:
“How Can You Be a Feminist and like Taylor Swift” ran a Buzz Feed headline several years ago.
Others took her to task for her 2018 “Love Story” video in which she was accused of playing up to “outdated gender norms.” Feminists balked that Swift seemed to be encouraging teenage girls to wait for the male to make the first move when it came to dating.
Conversely, conservative writer Rod Dreher praised Taylor’s “Love Story” video in a recent blog precisely because of its anti-feminist stance and also because Taylor’s voice is very much his cup of tea.
“In it [this song], Swift retells the story of Romeo and Juliet as a tale of high school true love,” Dreher writes. “I wasn’t prepared for how powerful this pop song is. It made me understand in a way I don’t think I ever have why Shakespeare’s play has so much enduring resonance.”
While Joe Biden may want to hear the rhapsodic longings of teenage girls, I think what he wants more than this is a highly popular entertainer pawn to help him and Kamala win the 2024 election.
Taylor Swift, of all celebrities living today, is the perfect pawn to help sweep Biden back into the WH– border crisis, migrant overflow, decaying US economy and crumbling cities notwithstanding.
Never mind that Biden confused Taylor Swift with Britney Spears during remarks he made in November 2023 (Proof that Biden thinks that singers like this are all “existentially” the same.)
And yet, in between photo ops and kissing her footballer hero, Taylor has been busy building up her lefty credentials:
Last year, Buzz Feed praised her for using inclusive language during her Eras Tour. At that time she also warned Americans on the dangers of systemic racism (she has donated money to BLM.)
In December 2023, it was reported that Swift attended a philanthropic event hosted by Ramy Youssef’s comedy club in Brooklyn, the purpose of which was to raise funds for Gaza.
News of Taylor’s involvement in that event alerted conservative journalists like Megyn Kelly who announced that fans should boycott Swift:
“Swift…who has been out there tweeting about her support for the LGBTQ community. You know what they do to that community in Gaza, Taylor—that you want to now support? They’ll throw them off the top of a building. That’s what you’re contributing to.”
Taylor likes to advertise her opposition to Republican lawmakers who don’t support women (meaning the “right” to abort whenever she chooses).
Still, some leftist cultural observers maintain that Swift is just a very hard working singer without any sort of political agenda.
Yet these people are the first to pounce whenever they see a criticism of Swift on social media.
Often these criticisms have to do with the singer’s overexposure and the media’s obsession with her, but that doesn’t matter. Any benign criticism of Taylor Swift on social media is seen as “right wing fanaticism” “conservatives getting their knickers in a twist, or “old men or women shouting at clouds.”
Consider this random sampling of lefty pro-Swift comments on social media:
“Thanks to a bunch of conservative, ignorant, smelly, simple minded people, I’ve become the biggest Taylor Swift fan!”
“I’m rather enjoying watching the Republican bottom feeders having their panties in a twist over her in their usual ‘conspiracy theory’ bizarre universe.”
“Republicans are running scared. I don’t know if you’ve seen but thousands of young people have registered to vote this year….there’s long lines in every state. Any yes I am a fan.”
Taylor Swift is a moderately pretty average singer who hasn’t the slightest clue when it comes to politics. But she’s learning, as they say; she’s being schooled by leftists to be a pawn, despite her “legally blonde” roots that caused leftwing talk show host Ellen Degeneres to observe that, Swift “clearly knows nothing.”
But this was before TIME magazine’s canonization of Swift as ‘Person of the Year.”
Being named TIME’s ‘Person of the Year’ is on a par with a Knighthood by King Charles.
Swift is under pressure to expand her horizons, since recognition by TIME demands a new degree of seriousness, such as a total plunge into the political arena.
It is more than likely that Swift will team up with the Biden campaign with an even greater role than the one she played in 2020.
The red lipstick diva is ready to sell her soul to Biden-Harris cavalcade now that her leftie ducks are in a row.
These include her fierce advocacy for abortion rights, BLM, systemic racism, gender equality (which can mean anything from trans surgeries for children, to the forced use of pronouns in the work place), and lately—Gaza.
New Jersey Democrat governor Phil Murphy—the epitome of left liberal ideological phlegm—has already named a sandwich after her: The Taylor Swift ham, egg and cheese sandwich. It’s “state” sandwich, by the way, that got 5,700 likes on social media minutes after Murphy tweeted it out.
Now fans can “eat” Swift as they dig into her politics.
“The biggest and most influential [Biden} endorsement target is Ms. Swift, 34, the pop sensation and N.F.L. enthusiast, who can move millions of supporters with an Instagram post or a mid-concert aside,” The New York Times declared recently.
“She endorsed Mr. Biden in 2020 and, last year, a single Instagram post of hers led to 35,000 new voter registrations. Fund-raising appeals from Ms. Swift could be worth millions of dollars for Mr. Biden.’
The Times mentions Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, “a top Biden surrogate,” who “all but begged Ms. Swift to become more involved in Mr. Biden’s campaign when he spoke to reporters after a Republican primary debate in September.
“’Taylor Swift stands tall and unique,’ he said. ‘What she was able to accomplish just in getting young people activated to consider that they have a voice and that they should have a choice in the next election, I think, is profoundly powerful.”’
Newsom wasn’t talking about conservative, Republican votes.
This should serve as fair warning that there’s no conspiracy and no paranoia coming from the right:
Taylor Swift is being dressed up as a lipstick Trojan Horse to keep Biden in the White House.
