Leaders of the Resistance is a new Freedom Center Investigates series that highlights key figures and organizations in the anti-Trump movement and the secret forces behind them.
In the 2024 election, voters in California, Washington, Florida and 7 other states were able to choose not only between Trump and Kamala, but also vote for a presidential candidate from the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
The Party for Socialism and Liberation was certainly not the first Communist party to appear on an American presidential ballot, but it may be the first one to operate out of Communist China.
Claudia De La Cruz, the PSL’s presidential candidate, is a founding member and co-executive director of The People’s Forum. The People’s Forum is funded by Neville Roy Singham, a Maoist millionaire living in Communist China, whose Shanghai office faces “a red banner that reads, in Chinese, ‘Always Follow the Party.’ Resting on a shelf is a plate depicting Xi.”
Singham has rapidly become the Soros of the Communist, Leninist and Maoist forces in America funding an extensive network of propaganda and activism from a Shaghan office where reportedly red and yellow offices commemorate the “centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China” based on the “little red light of stars” that serves as a “revolutionary force” that “sets out from the East, to connect the world”.
Born to a Sri-Lankan radical professor father who had palled around with Castro and to a Chinese academic mother, and raised in Chicago, Singham’s story had echoes of Obama and Kamala, but unlike them he has less interest in disguising his agenda or his plans for America.
And the Singham network’s idea of a new anti-Trump leftist ‘resistance’ comes from the East.
The People’s Forum makes little effort to hide what it is. Its storefront is decorated with Cuban, PLO and Venezuelan flags where copies of Castro’s speeches and ‘China’s Great Road’ are sold.
After Oct 7, its Maoist agenda turned into Hamas activism. The People’s Forum described the Hamas attacks that murdered over 1,000 Israeli civilians, the elderly, women and children, as an “unprecedented liberation struggle” by “Palestinian resistance factions”.
“We give our heart, we give our life, we give our blood to the Palestinian people,” Manolo De Los Santos, a founding director of The People’s Forum declared at a pro-terrorist rally in Manhattan. “We will use whatever we have in our hands. A rock or something else. We will defend the Palestinian people.”
The People’s Forum played a major role in the pro-terrorist mobs in New York City.
During the election, the Party for Socialism and Liberation formed a united front with the other pro-terrorist leftist presidential candidates, Jill Stein and Cornel West, demonstrating the extent of the Chinese Communist influence over not just one presidential candidate, but three of them.
And after the election, The People’s Forum is getting back to its usual business.
The People’s Forum is mobilizing to oppose Trump during the inauguration under the slogan, “We Fight Back!” The Party for Socialism and Liberation was angling to bring together third party leftist candidates in the election, now the Singham network appears to be trying to play a leading role in the anti-Trump ‘resistance’ following a blueprint that it has used in the past.
The inauguration protest is set to bring together The People’s Forum, the Palestinian Youth Movement, which was tied to the hateful assault on a Los Angeles synagogue, Nodutdol, a pro-North Korean group, and ANSWER: a mainstay of anti-war protests after 9/11.
Despite the foreign, enemy and terrorist ties involved, there has been little FBI or other law enforcement scrutiny of the inauguration day activities of these extremist groups.
During the Bush administration, the Workers World Party, a Communist party, was able to use its ANSWER anti-war protests to gain influence over leftists and liberals. The Party for Socialism and Liberation split off from WWP and took ANSWER with it. (ANSWER will also be present at the inauguration protest.). The larger agenda for the Party for Socialism and Liberation may be to deepen its hold on the Left and further radicalize it as not only anti-American, but pro-China.
The organizations funded by Singham are relentlessly pro-China. The People’s Forum holds a stream of Chinese Communist propaganda events glorifying China’s ascendancy. Singham gloated that, “thankfully, the US will not be the dominant economic force in the world”.
If The People’s Forum and other members of the network have their way, the new anti-Trump ‘resistance’ may have a Chinese Communist agenda. Singham has funded radical leftist members of Congress including Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Pramila Jayapal, his network intersects with the dominant leftist third parties and with anti-American street protesters.
Rep. Omar has defended Communist China against American criticism and both she and Rep. Jayapal opposed a crackdown on China’s TikTok propaganda infiltration network. A Party for Socialism and Liberation editorial argued that “the ruling elite of the United States has come to a consensus that China is their main obstacle as they attempt to dominate the whole planet” and warned that “we should not be fooled by the forces that spend an enormous amount of time and money trying to convince people that China is our enemy.”
Senator Marco Rubio, chosen to serve as the Secretary of State in the new Trump administration, had previously announced a probe of “organizations tied to Neville Roy Singham, a U.S. citizen, have been receiving direction from the CCP.” While the Biden-Harris administration failed to take any meaningful action, Rubio may soon be empowered to do so.
The introduction of H.R. 9495, a bill that would allow the revocation of tax-exempt status to terrorist-supporting nonprofits, already badly panicked The People’s Forum which claimed that this was “a resurgence of McCarthyism” and complained that the “People’s Forum and many others fighting for Palestine will be under direct threat.”
Despite the wave of violence and subversion by radical nonprofits, 144 Democrats (and Rep. Thomas Massie) chose to vote against the Republican bill. Past history suggests that Democrats, liberals and leftists will close ranks in defense of Communist movements. If they continue to protect The People’s Forum and the Singham network, they will be infected by it.
And the anti-Trump ‘resistance’ may very well soon become a Chinese Communist asset.
