NextImg:Oct 7 Doc Banned for Not Getting Hamas Permission to Use Footage

Oct 7 was probably the most filmed atrocity in history. But most of the filming was done by the Hamas, Islamic Jihad and PLO attackers. Do the Islamic terrorists get copyright ownership of the footage of their killings and kidnappings?

In Canada, apparently they do.

There have been a number of documentaries made about the Oct 7 massacres and film festivals and theaters have found reasons to reject them. ‘The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue’, the story of a man getting into a car, setting out to rescue family members and then eventually saving others, is the latest victim of an absurd pretext for not screening it.

A new documentary about the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas has been booted from the Toronto International Film Festival — because organizers insist the filmmakers need the rights from the terrorist group to use their horrific footage of the massacre.

The festival claims the movie, called “The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue,” did not meet certain requirements to screen at the prestigious September event, widely attended by Hollywood stars and bigwigs, including not securing so-called “legal clearance” to use Hamas’ livestreamed video of the rape, murder and kidnapping of Jews.

The copyright excuse is a pretext. The director of another documentary, Oct 8, stated that, “The truth is that TIFF staffers refused to work if this film about a grandfather rescuing his family on Oct 7 was shown at TIFF.”

Meanwhile anti-Israel propaganda docs like No Other Land continue to appear even though many of these documentaries don’t bother with legal clearance, they don’t discuss how their scenes are staged and don’t follow the rules. But it’s not about the rules, it’s about the propaganda.

A documentary about the massacres however is expected to get permission from Hamas.
